The Amazon smart plug can be set up quite easily with the Alexa application. Unlike other smart plugs, it is a bit bigger and can accommodate a heavier load.

So, if you’re looking for an upgrade, then going with the Amazon smart plug might just be the perfect solution for you.

This unit has been dominating the market for years and will continue to do so for many more. So, be sure to browse through the different Amazon smart plug models, and you will be sorted.

Hopefully, you will not have to deal with any extensive errors down the road.

The good thing is that you can still connect multiple plugs in a single outlet, and the bigger size won’t cover up a lot of extra space on top of the outlet.

Overall, it is inexpensive and a great addition to improving your home automation.

Does Amazon Smart Plug Work with Google Home?

Now, let’s move on to the question that everyone is wondering about. That is, whether or not the Amazon Smart plug can work with Google Home.

You will find many owners inquiring about this issue, and you can improve your understanding by going through the details below.

Unfortunately, no method can allow you to directly link up your Amazon smart plug with the Google Home device.

However, there is still a way you can get around the issue and link up the smart plug indirectly with the Google Home application.

That includes first linking up the Amazon Smart plug with the Smart Life app and then linking your Smart Life app account with the Google Home.

performance

That might not be the best solution, but it can potentially help you get the desired performance from the unit.

That way, whenever you issue the command, Google Home will forward the command to the Smart Life application, and the Smart plug will turn off or on.

According to the Amazon team, you can’t get the smart plug directly linked up with the Google Home application.

So, if you already have a Google Home in your house, then buying Amazon plugs might not be the best idea. There are so many other options available that have just as good smart plugs available.

But if you have bought the Amazon Smart plugs already and don’t want to go through the hassle of replacing them, then you should just follow the method mentioned above and get the Amazon Smart plugs connected to your Google Home.

The procedure isn’t that long and will only take a few minutes. If you already have the Smart Life application on your phone and the account is linked to your Google Home, then you can set up the smart plug within a few seconds.

After the setup with the Smart Life application, you can just configure the voice commands to control the smart plug, and everything should work like it is supposed to.

There are setup guides available that go over every step in detail for users that don’t know how to link up the new account with their Google Home assistant.

So, there is no need to hesitate, and you can also get help from an expert directly.

There are simply too many experts available on the community forums that are willing to help new owners get the desired response from their smart devices.

So, if you do get stuck in a situation where you can’t seem to make your way through the configurations, be sure to ask an expert for help.

Otherwise, you will remain stuck in these errors and won’t be able to get anywhere with pairing up the smart plug with the Google Home system.

Setting Up Amazon Plug with Google Home

After powering up the smart plug and pairing it with your phone, you will have to download the Smart Life application and then launch it.

Link the Amazon Smart Plug with the Smart Life application and make sure that you are on a 2.4GHz connection.

After everything is linked up with the Smart Life application and you can turn the bulb on or off using the Smart Life app, then you can go ahead and link the application with your Google Home.

Just launch the Google Home app and then put the credentials of your Smart Life account in the given space.

After linking the Smart Life account, you can now use voice commands from your Google Home assistant to control the smart device.

Ideally, everything should work at this point, and your Amazon Smart plug will be indirectly linked with Google Home.

Reset

But if you can’t get the device to work, then try resetting the smart plug to factory settings and going through the procedure again.

It is always best to update the automation applications to avoid bugs that can cause your smart devices to malfunction during the setup procedure. That should put everything in order, and you will be able to use the Smart plug.

So, be sure to try out the method listed here, and you will be able to integrate everything with your Google Home setup.

The hassle might be a bit much for some owners, but you can’t beat the performance consistency of the Google Home unit. However, this is only true if you set up the voice commands correctly.

Sometimes, issues with the voice commands will create performance errors where you will not be able to use the Amazon plug with the Google Home unit. So, be sure to keep that in mind when you’re stuck in these issues.

Troubleshooting Issues With The Voice Commands

voice command

Sometimes, when you’re through all of these configurations, you will still not be able to get the desired efficiency out of the smart plug.

This problem is mostly related to the programming side of things, and you will have to go through the configurations accordingly to limit these errors.

All that you have to do here is to check up on the voice commands one more time. That will be more than enough to help you limit the errors on your end, and the input will get registered.

So, if you’ve created a creative trigger phrase for the unit, try simplifying it a bit. From there, you need to also make sure that you’re standing within the range of the Google Home unit as you issue the command.

That should mostly be enough, and you will notice that the smart plug will turn on in due time.

So, be sure to keep track of all of these pointers, and you will not have to deal with any long-term errors.

Another good method of limiting these issues is to power cycle the devices. This includes the Google Home system as well as the plug itself before establishing the connection one more time.

That will get rid of the majority of the programming-related bugs. Some owners also pointed out that they had to reset the system and get through all of the configurations from scratch.

However, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that for your unit, and you can fix it fairly quickly. Next, you need to also reach out to the official support team regarding these issues.

They might not recommend you pair up the plug with the Google Home service, but you can always ask how to improve the responsiveness of the unit to voice commands.

From there, you just have to improve the connection, put the Google Home unit at the center of your room, and then try engaging the involved devices one more time.

Customer Support

The smart plug will respond accordingly, and you will not have to deal with any complications.

Lastly, there are many experts available on the community support forums that have optimized their setup in a similar way.

So, if you seem to be stuck and can’t seem to find your way around the configurations, be sure to follow the experts.

To Conclude

Yes, you can link up the Google Home with your Amazon Smart Plug indirectly by first linking up the smart plug with another automation app and then linking that automation app with your Google Home.

The setup is not as complicated as it sounds, and you only need to go through a few pairing processes to get everything working.

There is help available on online forums for users that are a bit confused and need someone to guide them on each step of the procedure.

You can also reach out to the dealer or the official support team for help on this matter. They will inquire about a few details and then guide you on how to get through the minor programming bugs.

expert advice

Hopefully, you will not have to deal with any hassle when trying to adjust the system. It all comes down to how you’re planning on adjusting to the situation. Most of the time, seeking help from an expert is the best course of action.

So, instead of spending hours of your time trying to fix the unit yourself, be sure to engage someone from the official support team.

  1. Hi. This no longer works. You CAN link smart life to your amazon but your smart plug will not be detected and you will not be able to control using google home. If there’s another way to do this please let me know.
