  1. Check Credentials

The most basic thing that you can do to fix this issue with myTouchSmart not connecting to Wi-Fi is to check the account credentials. There is a good chance that you’re missing an alphabet or numeric on the username or the passcode. So, carefully check the credentials and try logging into the network again.

You can run into this problem with myTouchSmart when using special characters in the Wi-Fi username or password. So, try to change the username and password on your router to simple alphabets and numeric, and then try connecting the Wi-Fi again.

  1. Check Channel Bandwidth

Having dual-band routers or the wrong channel bandwidth can also cause similar issues with myTouchSmart not connecting to Wi-Fi. If you’re on a dual-band router, then make sure to configure separate names and passwords for both channels. It will also help if you can restrict the channel to 2.4GHz only and then connect the Wi-Fi again.

Similarly, if you’re on the single band network, just make sure that the channel is not set to 5.0GHz. Otherwise, you will keep running into the same issue and won’t get anywhere with the myTouchSmart connection with the Wi-Fi.

  1. Fix Channel Strength

Sometimes the fix to this issue is as simple as moving the router closer to the smart device. If the router is placed in another room, then that is likely why you’re running into issues with myTouchSmart Not Connecting to Wi-Fi. So, to improve the channel strength, the only thing you can do is change the position of the router. That should eliminate the issue with your Wi-Fi connection.

  1. Reset Router

If the problem is not fixed at this point, then resetting the router is the only viable option left. The downside of this method is that you will have to reconfigure all the smart devices with the router from scratch. So, make sure to try out other methods mentioned here before resetting the router.

However, if you’ve had no success with any of the methods so far, then go through the reset procedure and then connect your Wi-Fi router with myTouchSmart. There is a good chance that you won’t have to bother with more solutions at this point.

  1. Eliminate Interferences

The interferences from other routers and smart devices can potentially create connection issues with the smart device. So, if you have more than one router installed in your home, just eliminate the interferences. This includes all the extra router and cellular networks in the room.

After that, you should try to go through with the connection process again. If your smart device is not defective, then the issue with the Wi-Fi connection should be fixed.

  1. Reinstall Application

The last thing you can do about this connection issue is to reinstall the application on your mobile phone. It will only take a few minutes, but once the app gets reinstalled, it should fix minor bugs in the application. Checking for updates can also help you through this issue if you haven’t updated the application in a long time.

In most situations, you won’t have to bother with all of these methods, and the issue gets fixed after changing credentials and managing the router configurations. There have been any cases where users were unable to fix the problem after resetting the router. So, there is a good chance that you will fix the issue by following a similar method. 1. I can’t get my newly purchased MTS5401 plug to connect to my (2.4) Wifi via the MyTS android app. I had no issue with two previously purchased devices. I’ve tried all the remedies, except for resetting the router, which I don’t want to do. Any suggestions before I return the device and get a replacement?
