Although the lights and switch themselves are working just fine, this issue can still be frustrating. Luckily, there are some things that you can do about that. We will be using this article to explain to you how you can fix this. So, let’s get right into it!

  1. Check Your Wires

If your operations on the switch are reversed, then the most common reason to why this is happening is simply because it isn’t installed like it should be. To be more precise, you may have installed the wires and connected them oppositely.

In either case, first you have to make sure that you turn off power from the breaker. Once you have made sure of that, simply remove the switch and check all the wires connected to the switch. There should be two power wires. One should be connected to the common terminal, while the other should be connected to the terminal on the opposite side of the switch. Try interchanging the wires. Swapping the wires correctly should fix the issue.

  1. Turn The Switch Upside Down

If you have tried changing the wires in every way possible and haven’t made any progress at all. What you can do in this case is to simply remove the switch and install it upside down.

What this will do is to make it look like that the switches are working correctly. You won’t really be fixing the issue, but it should help you nonetheless. The switch operation shouldn’t look like they are reversed anymore.
