Sylvania light bulbs can be linked with the majority of home automation systems like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Homekit. So, it is very rare for customers to run into compatibility issues. All you have to do is install the smart bulb and pair them with your automation hub. They are energy efficient and don’t weigh on your eyes.

However, multiple clients have been complaining about some issues that are pretty common in Sylvania Bulbs. These issues are usually because of minor bugs that you can easily troubleshoot. Let us go over a few common issues and how you should go about fixing them.

Common Sylvania Bulbs Problems Troubleshooting

  1. Sylvania Bulb Not Powering On

This issue is mainly because the bulb is not able to draw power from the circuit. Most of the time the real culprit behind is a faulty power outlet. However, it is also common for some customers to incorrectly install a bulb. Due to which the contact points on the bulb and the holder don’t meet, this makes the bulb unable to draw power and turn on.

First of all, you need to make sure you have followed the user manual correctly and the bulb is installed properly. You can also ask a friend or watch a YouTube tutorial if you’ve never installed a bulb before. If you’re sure the bulb is installed properly then the next probable cause can be a faulty power outlet.

You should check the outlet by plugging in some other appliance to see if it is working properly. If it’s not then simply replace the outlet or try using a different outlet for your smart device. This will most probably sort out the issue for you. On the off chance, if the issue persists then it is likely that your bulb is faulty in which scenario you have to get it replaced.

  1. Homekit Not Working

It can be quite annoying when you buy a smart device but can’t get it to connect to your home automation system. If you’re having issues in connecting your smart lights to Apple Homekit then following these fixes can potentially sort out your problem.

Most of the time, a quick power cycle can sort out all your problem so to do this, simply cut off power for around 30 seconds and turn it back on. After it is plugged in wait an additional 30 seconds to allow it to connect to the hub. If that does not fix the problem then it is likely that the issue is with the home kit and not the smart light.

Giving your Apple Homekit a reset can also take care of any minor bugs that are affecting your system.  You can easily do that from the home kit app. After that just give your Homekit hub a quick restart and try connecting your device to the automation system. If the issue persists then we recommend that you reset your smart device to factory default.

  1. Sylvania Bulbs Not Responding

If you are unable to control the bulbs through voice commands or by the Sylvania mobile app then it is likely that there is a connection problem. This can also cause your bulb to appear offline on your mobile app.

To fix this issue you need to make sure that your home network is working properly, Changing the Wi-Fi password can sometimes cause this issue. So, you’d have to reconfigure the Wi-Fi settings and connect the bulb to your home network. Sometimes giving your router a restart can sort out this issue so make sure you do that.

Lastly, to improve signal strength you can move the router closer to the smart lights. This will make it easier for the smart device to communicate with the mobile app and execute any commands which are given.

These were some common issues you can face while using Sylvania Bulbs. If your specific issue is not mentioned here and after trying all the fixes you still can’t resolve the problem then we suggest that you contact Sylvania Support. Provide them with all the information regarding your issue. It’s even better if you can mail them a video. This will help them pinpoint the problem and suggest appropriate fixes.

  1. Why is the load wire (black) and the neutral wire (white) not soldered on either end of the wires ? Both ends are just a push in type of contact. My light bulb was always flashing. I took it apart and found that the wires were short and not making a good connection causing it to flash. And how does the warranty work on these bulbs. I have had this type of bulbs only last for a short time . I am changing them more than I ever did with the incandescent bulbs . These are in the house at 120 volts , so far I am not completely satisfied with them . Thank you for your response.
