When my previous washing machine broke down and needed replacement, a friend of mine recommended that I purchased a Samsung FlexWash. They had recently bought one themselves and couldn’t sing its praises high enough.

And I am glad that I followed their advice as it really does come with impressive features that leaves your laundry perfectly washed.

However, on occasion the FlexWash will display a 4C error code. But don’t worry, this is to inform you that something needs attending to, not that that the machine is broken or malfunctioning.

The 4C error code will be displayed on the front of its functions display panel.

I’ve also made a short video which shows how you can solve this problem and you can watch it below. The 4C error could be solved by identifying if the water inlet valve is faulty and replacing it with a new one.

What You Should Do When You See the Samsung FlexWash 4C Error Code

So, what is this message advising us of?

If you read the instructions manual that comes with your FlexWash, it will inform you that the 4C error code means that there is a problem with the lower washer of the unit, and to check for a problem with the water supply line including the water taps.

the 4C error code means that there is a problem with the lower washer of the unit

To do this, you are advised to turn off the power supply to the machine for two to three minutes, and then to switch the machine back on and try again.

Depending on the model you have, your FlexWash’s drain system will drain the water from your machine whilst at the same time disabling the Power and Start/Pause buttons.

If the 4C error code is still being displayed after doing the above, it is going to need you to investigate further.

turn off the power supply to the machine for two to three minutes

But don’t panic! The FlexWash has been designed for easy maintenance, so it is unlikely that you will need the assistance of a professional or a plumber.

However, before doing any maintenance yourself, always remember to turn off and unplug your machine from the power supply.

check that the inlet valves are not blocked in any way.

As the 4C error code means that your washer is not being supplied with water correctly when it is being filled, you will need to try the following solutions to attempt to rectify the problem.

At the back of your washer, after removing the water pipes, check that the inlet valves are not blocked in any way.

use a multimeter to check the “ResistanceΩ” on each of the inlet valves.

You can do this by using a pair of short nose pliers to remove the blue mesh filters from the inlet pipes that they cover, and ensure that they and the inlet pipes are not clogged up in anyway. If they are, this could be the reason why water is not entering your machine as it should.

If that is not the problem, then the next step is to set and use a multimeter to check the “ResistanceΩ” on each of the inlet valves.

broken valve no resistance

Good valves will have the same “ResistanceΩ” whereas a broken valve will have no resistance value displayed on the multimeter. If you find that a valve is broken and showing no resistance then you need to remove and replace the entire water inlet valve unit.

Having removed the entire original water inlet valve unit from the machine, you can check it against your new water inlet valve unit.

remove and replace the entire water inlet valve unit.

You should see on your multimeter that on the new water inlet valve unit resistance is shown on each valve. Again, checking the inlet valve unit that you removed, that there is no resistance shown on the broken valve.

Therefore, the problem is the faulty inlet valve and you should replace it with the new inlet valve unit, making sure that when doing this that all the hoses are securely fastened onto the new inlet valve unit, and all parts and screws that you previously removed are also reattached to the new inlet valve unit correctly.

make sure everything is properly attached

Now you can replace the cover that you needed to remove at the start of this process, plug back in your Samsung FlexWash, and your washer should no longer display the 4C error code.
