Philips Smart Bulbs come in many kinds of forms and bases, so finding the right one for your current lamps and setups is fairly easy. There is also the Wiz-line, that Philips itself makes. These cost much less than Hue-bulbs and totally skip the bridge, they connect directly to your WiFi-network. The Wiz-app lets you fully control light modes, schedules and automations, almost everything possible.
Because of that, if some want smart light at less expense, they deserve to look more carefully.
Naturally, the prices of Hue-bulbs stay high, and yes, they are expensive. That simply is the truth. In return you receive however truly reliable product.
There are setups, that run almost ten years without any bulb failing. The connection stays stable, bulbs do not fail randomly, and the app itself is nicely polished with great ties to HomeKit and other platforms.
Philips Hue works with smart home assistants for voice commands, when you do not want to take your phone. They even work with Razer on gaming accessories, that sync with you’re lights for a more immersive experience. Moreover, beyond the entertainment, they now add truly useful safety features to their system for smart home.
Installing smart bulbs is easy, no wiring, no setting, so you can take them when you move. An added bonus: they indeed reduce light pollution, what matters for insects. Philips Hue-bulbs work outside, if they are protected against weather and stay in the range of your system.
