Google Assistants work well as practical Alarm clocks, which helps anyone that wants to have fewer devices beside the bed. Setting an Alarm is very simple. Simply say “Hey, Google” and ask it to set an Alarm for a certain hour.
After it is done, you can control or remove the Alarm using the app of Google Home.
How to Set and Fix Google Home Alarms
To find the Alarm settings, touch Home, then All Devices and hold the tile of the device. From here, click Settings, then Audio, then Alarms and Timers. There is another way to reach that: touch Home below hold the device and go to Device Settings in the right upper corner.
Alarm clocks of Google Home show up in stores like Best Buy, where one can get them by delivery or shop in a retail store for low everyday cost. Some users help themselves with their Google Home to create a whole evening routine. For instance, saying “good night” makes the device set a morning Alarm and even offer a second time, said fifteen minutes more late.
One can also link a morning routine to a weather update, when one wakes up. And Alarms can be automated with scripts and YAML code.
Even so here is something bothering. Media Alarms, where music sounds as Alarm sound, no longer work. Instead, one can start music at a precise time creating a Routine.
Open the app of Google Home, go to the Automation tab and click Create, then Your own. This solution helps to reach the goal, but it does not match the prior one. Also the radio Alarm feature on Google Home devices broke, and despite complaints, no one fixed it.
Reliability really disturbs. Some Alarms set themselves, the device confirms them, but in the mourning they simply do not sound. Sometimes the device insists, that no Alarm was set.
When an Alarm sounds and no one turns it off, it goes silent after a bit of time. However the next morning Alarm maybe will not sound. The device can even claim, that an old Alarm sounds now, although it clearly does not do that.
On the other hand, some folks used Alarms of Google Home for years without any problem.
When the internet or electricity disappears, Google Home becomes almost useless as an Alarm clock. Once some woke up early in the morning and found, that their Alarm never sounded. A wise tip is to set Alarms on both the phone and the Google Home speaker.
If the device does not work well, try to reset it: unplug it, wait some minutes and then plugback. Later check the app of Google Home, to see if the Alarm appears correctly.
