Lux lumens calculator is free and simple tool for all. It allows to convert lux to lumens and vice versa. Lux belongs to SI unit for illuminance, namely lumens in square meter.
Simply said, it shows how much light falls on surface. In bigger lux-value the room shines more strongly, and vice versa
Easy Lux and Lumens Converter
For convert lux to lumens by means of the calculator, enter the illuminance in lux, choose type of area, type the radius in meters for spherical light source or the surface area in m² for any light source, and click the button count to receive the luminous flux in lumens. Rather it operates likwise well. Enter luminous flux in lumens, choose type of area, enter radius in meters or surface area in m² and click to estimate the illuminance in lux.
For convert lux to lumens you use special formula. That it estimates the whole luminous flux necessary to reach certain illuminance over specified surface. Basically, you multiply lux by area to receive lumens.
For find lumens for any surface, first count its square size. One square foot match 0.093 m².
The calculator converts also between lumens, candela and lux. It estimates illuminance from beam angle, distance and surface for point light sources. To receive lux, share the luminous intensity by square distance.
For lanterns and headlamps the calculator is very usefull. If you already have lantern or headlamp, check its specs to see lux-levels at various distances. If you plan to buy and know the usage, the calculator says how many lumens you require for certain lux-level.
Some calculators apply simplified lumen method with coefficient and loss factor. Enter room width and length in feet, inches or meters. The calculator converts them to meters and estimates the area.
Basic illuminance comes from internal table for the chosen room-type and targets as low, standard or high. You can enter own lux-target, that replaces the default, if it is positive number.
Convert between geometry units are hard and only when real measurement in the wanted units is not possible. Convert watts to lux are even more complex than others. The formula is: lx match 10.76391 times W multiplied by lumens in watt and shared by square feet.
