Choose the right size of water softener so the system works effectively and well. Does not exist one size for everything. The level of water trouble ranges based on the place where you live.
The capacity of softener shows the maximum amount of trouble that it removes before regeneration. You measure it in grains. Common sizes are 24,000-grain, 32,000-grain and 48,000-grain units.
Choose the Right Size Water Softener
Small standard softeners have usually 24,000 grains.
For find the correct size of water softener, estimate first the trouble of your water. You measure water trouble in grains each gallon (GPG) or parts each million (PPM). Two main factors decide the choice: the water trouble and the family size.
You must consider also the iron in water and the total use. The harder the water, the bigger grain capacity needed. The trouble matters more than the usage.
Right softener for clean water will handle it.
If water carries iron, add 5 grains of trouble for every 1 ppm of iron to estimate the size. For instance, 1 ppm iron equals 5 GPG. Charts for sizes helps to start, but it gives only an estimate because of water use.
The daily grains help to count the resin capacity, so how much trouble softener can take before regeneration. Almost all softeners are sized by their grain capacity. That directly relates to the softened amount.
For businesses or industrial uses matters to use the right size for continuous pure soft water. Softeners differs in size, and unit can be too big or small for a business. Portable ones do not alter that.
All pass water through resin beads, so size is the only difference. Exist models with 16,000 grains. Also more small, as 8,000-grain units.
Calculator helps computre the required grain capacity. Widely take the smallest softener that meets the flow and capacity.
