Battery Life and Power for the Arlo Floodlight Camera
Because of the Battery-based design of the Arlo Professional 3 Floodlight the assembly is fairly simple. There is also a wired version of the Floodlight camera, that installs quickly and links directly to the Arlo app without problems. Many users note, that Arlo offers two versions of that camera, one only on Battery and the other with fixed wired connection plus back-up Battery.
The Battery of the Floodlight camera is impressive, almost three times bigger than that in the Arlo Ultra or the average Professional 3-cameras. It lasts more than a month with one charge, without any trouble. But the duration of the Battery depends strongly on the amount of movement, that the camera detects.
In areas with many creatures or household members, that goes past, the energy drains more soon. Choosing, what and when to film, genuinley changes the situation.
Some users notice, that the Battery loses 20 to 30 percent in only three days. Cold weather creates extra challenge, especially where the thermometer sinks around minus 20 degrees Celsius. After almost a year, the energy can drop quickly, sometimes to only two days.
Even buying of fresh aftermarket- or OEM-XL-Battery does not always settle the problem.
The XL-rechargeable Battery gives up to 2,5 times longer use. It works well for areas with high motion, holiday homes or places, that hardly reach. The camera includes a cover, that allows you to exchange the Battery without effort.
For the main light of the Arlo Floodlight, the XL-version is the best option. Keeping back-up rechargeable Battery ready seems wise four occasions, when the present one empties. Packages with third-party batteries and chargers are also sold.
One can attach a solar panel to extend the Battery duration, even though it charges only slowly as aid. Wired AC-energy maybe provides a more reliable long-term solution. The Arlo Floodlight requires a 9-volt charger to refill the Battery through a magnetic port.
