🔋 Wyze Camera Battery Life Calculator
Estimate how long your Wyze camera battery will last based on your model, motion events, resolution, and usage patterns.
| Activity | Drain Rate | mAh per Hour | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deep Sleep / Standby | Very Low | ~0.5 mAh/hr | PIR sensor only active |
| Idle / Monitoring | Low | ~2 mAh/hr | Waiting for motion trigger |
| Motion Event (SD) | Medium | ~30 mAh/event | Includes wake-up + record |
| Motion Event (HD) | High | ~45 mAh/event | Higher bitrate stream |
| Night Vision (IR LEDs) | Medium | ~8 mAh/hr | IR illuminators active |
| Live View Streaming | Very High | ~120 mAh/hr | Avoid for battery cams |
| Wi-Fi Search / Reconnect | High | ~20 mAh/event | Weak signal worsens this |
| Push Notification Send | Very Low | ~0.5 mAh/event | Negligible impact |
| Temperature Range | Impact | Multiplier | Example (5200mAh) |
|---|---|---|---|
| >70°F / 21°C (Warm) | Slight boost | +5% | +8 days vs normal |
| 50–70°F / 10–21°C (Normal) | Baseline | 1.0x | Rated life baseline |
| 32–50°F / 0–10°C (Cold) | Reduced | –20% | –24 days vs normal |
| <32°F / 0°C (Very Cold) | Significantly reduced | –40% | –48 days vs normal |
| Signal Strength | Reconnects/Day | Extra Drain | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strong (–60 dBm or better) | 0–2 | ~10 mAh/day | Ideal placement |
| Medium (–70 dBm) | 3–8 | ~60 mAh/day | Consider Wi-Fi extender |
| Weak (–80 dBm or worse) | 10–20+ | ~200 mAh/day | Move router or camera |
| Scenario | Events/Day | Resolution | Est. Battery Life |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vacation home (away mode) | 1–3 | SD | 5–7 months |
| Quiet suburban yard | 5–10 | SD | 4–6 months |
| Typical home entrance | 10–20 | HD | 2–4 months |
| Busy driveway | 20–40 | HD | 1–2 months |
| High-traffic business | 40–80 | HD | 2–4 weeks |
| Pet monitoring (active) | 50–100 | HD | 1–3 weeks |
The Wyze Battery Cam Pro runs on a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion Battery. It works entirely without cables and even without a hub which is a big advantage. The older outdoor cameras of Wyze required a hub, but this model entirely dropped that.
The Battery pack has a capacity of 6 200 mAh, and according to the rating the camera can last up to six months on one single charge. Because of that one can place it outside without having power nearby.
Wyze Battery Cam Pro Battery Life and Charging Options
Even so, in the real world the Battery life commonly differs from that six-month promise. Some users notice, that the Battery empties much more quickly than expected. In one experience the Battery kept only 14 to 18 hours on a freshly installed unit, even without continuous recording switched on.
Another case described two new cameras, that sharply lost more than 70 percent of the Battery. Reaching the full six months apparently depends on use of event-only recording and on that, that one does not too much use the spotlight or the IR-lights.
On the other hand, one camera ran seven months and still had 22 percent of Battery staying, with a mean of around 22 events a day. In that rhythm it could entirely last nine to ten months. So the results genuinely range.
The Battery works with the Battery Cam Pro and the Dual Cam Doorbell. There are also third options, for example a rechargeable 7 000 mAh package, that works with both cameras. Some folks even offer 10 000 mAh Battery packs to run other Wyze cameras, like the V4, for longer periods.
A solar panel can help keep the Battery always full. With the Wyze solar panel connected, the camera stays at 100 percent while it logs events. But continuous recording drains the Battery quite a lot, even with a solar panel.
Finding a good place too mount the solar panel can be a bit stressful, especially on siding or downpipes. Various mounts for the cameras and solar panels are available at Amazon.
The camera also can run on wired power without the Battery being installed entirely. The provided USB-C cable is not designed for outdoor use, but one expects that an outdoor power adapter will arrive. One creative solution uses the Wasserstein floodlight, that keeps the Wyze Camera charged and gives it permanent energy.
Local recording by means of MicroSD card is available on the Battery Cam Pro. One person put a 32MB SD card in a Battery operated camera and found that it logged nothing, maybe because the card was not formatted correctly. There is also a visible delay of 4 to 5 seconds compared with the Wyze Cam V3 Pro.
Some Battery readings act strangely also, as if it would empty inone percent a day and later sharply would fall to 10 percent.
