The duration of the battery in eufy-cameras depends much on the amount of motion around them. A camera installed before a house with many folks passing drains its energy more soon than one in calm places. One notices that when one considers the cause.
The more motion happens the more the camera must turn on.
How Long Do eufy Camera Batteries Last
For most eufy-cameras, one full charge can last for up to a year in typical situations. The eufyCam 2 Professional promises up to 365 days of battery life, and the S330 eufyCam 3 also promises up to one year with one single charge. Even so, the eufyCam 2C and eufyCam 2C Professional differ.
These models reach only around half a year with a full charge. The eufyCam 2 works without wires, which means that no power cable or Ethernet cable is needed, and its promised yearly battery life beats some rivals that only promies six months.
But here is the main point. Real experiences around the whole world commonly differ from those promises. Eufy estimates the battery life based on around 10 detections a day with 30 seconds of recording for every detection.
If more detections happen or the recording lasts longer, the battery drains more quickly. Also low temperatures help lead to shorter duration of the battery.
Some owners of 2C models must charge monthly even if they set the sensors to minimal. One user had to charge his 2C cameras the third time only after four months, although he expected almost six months between charges. Another received a warning about low battery only five days after a full charge, with only around five warnings a day.
It really upsets, especially four a system that is only some months old.
The settings play a big role. Choosing the rule “best battery life” instead of “best guard” can change a lot. Eufy itself warns that protective settings and custom rules drain the battery more soon.
Also, changing the sensitivity of motion and limiting zones for detections helps to extend the duration of the battery.
Some cameras placed south stay at 100 percent of charge after months, while those to the north fall to 91 and 74 percent. One owner used his cameras during five months through the winter, included weeks with temperatures under zero and nights reaching minus 25 degrees Fahrenheit, and still found the system quite practical. On the other hand, one owner of S3 Professional, connected to Apple HomeKit, lost more than 10 percent of battery in one day, which required weekly charging.
eufy cameras use rechargeable batteries, so one must not replace them every time when they end. For the eufy RoboVac, the rechargeable battery has a rated life of 300 to 500 charge cycles. Some users describe mixed results over time, sometimes enjoying several months per charge and sometimes only one month.
Some discuss solar charging, but eufy does not officially backit for all models.
