The single biggest factor in battery life is how many motion events are recorded daily. Use activity zones to exclude trees, roads, and other false-trigger sources. Each avoided event saves roughly 3–8 mAh.
For the Eufy solar panel to provide meaningful charge, it needs direct sunlight for at least 4–5 hours per day. South-facing placement at a slight downward angle maximizes efficiency in the Northern Hemisphere.
The battery of the eufy e340 is a rechargeable unit, designed especially for the Eufy Video Doorbell E340. It has a capacity of 6,500 mAh and aims to give up to six months of backup energy with one single charge. On paper everything seems good but in real life the results often differ, because it depends on the setup of the doorbell.
The charge happens by means of a USB-C cable, that works for many other uses. To charge it, you must remove the battery from the doorbell. The whole design helps to install and remove it easily and quickly.
Eufy E340 Battery Basics
It is an official Eufy part, that matches with the E340 doorbell.
There are also batteries from third parties. Some of them have a bit biggre capacity, namely 7,000 mAh, compared to the 6,500 mAh of the original. Those alternatives are lithium-ion, with 3.7V voltage and charge at 5V/2A.
Usually they come with a USB-C cable and LED light, that shines red during the process and green after full charge.
The duration of the battery in everyday usage changes a lot. Some users get around one month from full charge, while others notice, that it drops to 50% already after a week. The activity and the settings affect it strongly.
Often one chooses a balanced mode with detection of motion, that is set up. If you only get 10 too 14 days from a charge, that seems too little, and then maybe swap the battery or turn to the support.
Here is an important point. Even if the E340 doorbell is wired, the battery stays in the device. The doorbell works by means of the battery, so it does not lack even in wired mode.
That has an advantage, because the battery acts as backup during power cuts. In wired state, the system stops the charge at around 96%, to protect against overcharging. Because of that, that the battery does not reach 100% during wired, is normal.
To check the percentage of the battery in wired state, sometimes is hard. The page of the device shows only a graphic about the battery, without exact figures. A fix is to turn the power to the adapter of the doorbell, then refresh the Eufy Security app and check the page of Power Management for thereal percentage.
The E340 doorbell does not record all the time during 24 hours, even if wired. It however allows a preview of around three seconds before the events start. The doorbell can connect with devices like the Eufy HomeBase S280, HomeBase S380 or Minibase Ring.
Many users find it hard to count the needs of the adapter and the behavior of the charge in wired state, but the support of Eufy can explain specific details.
